The oceanfront estate known as “Miradero” in Gulf Stream has been sold for $21.6 million after spending one month on the market. The property, designed by architect Maurice Fatio, was originally built in 1928 for Lila Vanderbilt Webb, who was the granddaughter of Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt.
Ownership of the estate at 1443 North Ocean Boulevard was held by the Ganger Miradero Community Property Trust, managed by the Ganger family. The buyer remains undisclosed as the deed has not yet appeared in public records.
Pascal and Antonio Liguori with Premier Estate Properties represented the listing, while Candace Friis from the Corcoran Group brought in the buyer.
The Ganger family had owned Miradero since 1970, when Robert W. Ganger and his father Robert M. Ganger purchased it for an undisclosed sum. According to an obituary published in Coastal Star, Robert W. Ganger restored the property along with his wife Anneli Ganger during the 1990s. He had a long career at General Foods, which became part of Kraft Foods following its acquisition by Philip Morris Companies (now Altria) for $5.6 billion in 1985.
Robert M. Ganger, his father, worked as an advertising executive and is noted for helping to popularize diet soda and filtered cigarettes.
The compound covers one acre and consists of three buildings with a total of nine bedrooms, ten bathrooms, a pool, and 121 feet of beachfront.
The estate was listed last month at $25 million according to Zillow data. This sale follows other high-value transactions in Gulf Stream recently: attorney Henry Rosen bought an oceanfront home at 3435 North Ocean Boulevard for $22 million earlier this month; last year Debra Levitetz sold her oceanfront teardown for $39 million—a record price for the town.
