Governor Ron DeSantis has announced that Success Academy, a prominent charter school network known for high student performance, will open its first Florida campus in Miami. This move is part of the Schools of Hope initiative, which aims to increase educational opportunities in areas with persistently low-performing schools.
“Florida leads the nation in educational freedom, and today we are adding to that promise,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “With Success Academy opening in Miami, students will now have access to one of the highest-performing education models in the country. Florida’s families deserve world-class education, and we will continue to make it available to every child no matter their zip code.”
Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas also commented on the development. “Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership, parents are empowered to choose the educational path that best suits their children’s unique needs,” Kamoutsas said. “Success Academy offers families another high-quality option, backed by a nationally recognized track record of academic excellence and school improvement.”
The Schools of Hope program was established in 2017 with the goal of providing students from low-performing schools access to quality education through nonprofit charter networks called Hope Operators. These organizations have demonstrated success serving low-income communities and focus on closing achievement gaps between disadvantaged students and their peers.
Governor DeSantis has supported expanding educational options through various statutes and initiatives designed to benefit both students and families.
