The State University System of Florida (SUS) is marking National Transfer Student Week by highlighting the contributions of more than 55,000 transfer students across its institutions. The SUS operates the 2+2 Targeted Pathway program, which allows students to earn an associate degree at a state college and then guarantees them admission to a partner university to complete their four-year degree.

SUS Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs Emily Sikes stated, “In partnership with the Florida College System, the State University System of Florida is dedicated to upholding our commitment of excellence to all 2+2 transfer students. By establishing 2+2 Targeted Pathway programs at our institutions, our System is setting a high standard of excellence for transfer student success.”

All public universities in Florida are required to participate in the 2+2 Targeted Pathway program. This program involves agreements between SUS institutions and Florida Colleges, ensuring that students from these colleges have guaranteed admission to state universities. There are nearly 40 partnership pathway agreements across all 12 SUS institutions.

The impact of the 2+2 Targeted Pathway program is reflected in graduation rates: at institutions such as FSU, USF, FIU, and FAMU, at least 40% of 2+2 transfer students graduate within two years. Additionally, at FSU, FIU, USF, and FAU, at least 70% of these transfer students complete their degrees within three years.

Transfer student programs within SUS provide a range of services and resources. These include advisors on college partner campuses, opportunities for connections with peers and faculty in chosen majors, support from peers and transfer coaches, and initiatives to promote timely completion of both associate and bachelor’s degrees.

Further details about each university’s specific 2+2 Targeted Pathway program can be found on their respective websites: Ignite FAMU Transfer Program, Link2FAU, Destination FGCU, FIU Connect4Success, FloridaPoly, FSU Aspire TSC2FSU, NCF Guaranteed Transfer Pathways, DirectConnect to UCF, UF Partnership Programs, UNF, USF FUSE and PATHe USF St. Petersburg, and UWF Transfer Pathways.
