A new gym and wellness club, Monarch Athletic Club, will open its first location outside of Los Angeles at The Rivani building in South Beach. The club has signed a lease for 8,000 square feet at the property located at 1691 Michigan Avenue in Miami Beach. The opening is expected to take place next year.
Monarch Athletic Club was co-founded by Dr. Ryan M. Greene and Paul Freschi. The club offers services such as medical evaluations with quarterly follow-ups, physical therapy, strength and nutrition assessments, IV therapy, hormone and peptide optimization, ice baths, and infrared saunas. Staff members include physicians, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, nutritionists, and strength coaches.
Robert Rivani moved his firm from Los Angeles to Miami in 2022 and is currently overseeing a $40 million renovation of the seven-story building now known as The Rivani. He describes the upgraded property as “Class X” after renovations are completed. Renovation work is scheduled to finish next year.
Earlier this year, PLBY Group announced it would relocate its headquarters from Los Angeles to The Rivani building in South Beach. PLBY Group leased 20,000 square feet for its operations and plans to move about 250 employees next year.
In other leasing news around Miami-Dade County: Kimco Realty secured Starbucks and Barnes & Noble as tenants at Palms at Town and Country shopping center in Kendall. Starbucks recently opened a 3,700-square-foot coffee shop in a former Burger King space while Barnes & Noble will open a bookstore with an in-store café in over 20,000 square feet previously occupied by Forever 21. Kimco Realty owns the 80-acre retail complex on Southwest 88th Street near the Florida Turnpike.
Citizens Financial Group will launch Citizens Private Bank on Thursday at 400 Royal Palm Way in Palm Beach. As of the end of the second quarter this year, Citizens Financial Group reported assets under management totaling about $218.3 billion.
Jrk!, a Jamaican restaurant led by co-founder Kavan Burke with chef Wayne Sharpe overseeing culinary operations, plans to open a third location next month—a 657-square-foot outlet at Dadeland Mall. Additionally, Jrk! will operate a concession stand at Kaseya Center during basketball season. Dadeland Mall is owned by Simon Property Group based in Indianapolis.
