Spec developer Michael Klinger and his wife Michelle Klinger have sold their Golden Beach home for $27.1 million, setting a new record for bayfront properties in the neighborhood. The sale was made to a Delaware entity, though the identity of the buyer has not been disclosed, according to a spokesperson.
The transaction involved several real estate professionals: Dina Goldentayer with Douglas Elliman and Joel Lusky with the Brokerage South Florida Real Estate listed the property, while Jonathan Mann from the Jills Zeder Group at Coldwell Banker Realty represented the buyer.
Michael Klinger is known as the founder of Saber Real Estate South, a firm that has recently expanded its portfolio of speculative homes in Golden Beach. In November, he sold another renovated home at 220 South Island Drive for $13 million after purchasing it for $9.3 million one year earlier.
Last year, Saber’s acquisition of a quarter-acre waterfront site at 476 North Parkway for $3.9 million included plans to build a 6,000-square-foot spec home on the property. Additionally, Klinger is working on a 10,000-square-foot mansion at 56 Bal Bay, which is being marketed for $45 million by Goldentayer and Lusky.
The Klingers purchased the 0.3-acre property at 194 South Island Drive in 2021 for $6.3 million and completed construction of a 7,600-square-foot residence last year. The house features six bedrooms, six bathrooms, two half-bathrooms, a theater room, wellness amenities, staff quarters, a pool and dock.
The home was initially listed for $35 million in April before being reduced to $30 million in June; it went under contract in December.
Golden Beach stands out as one of Miami-Dade’s few neighborhoods offering oceanfront single-family homes. The highest-priced sale recorded there was $45 million in 2022 for an oceanfront estate spanning 1.7 acres along the Atlantic Ocean.
Klinger’s recent sale sets a new benchmark price for non-oceanfront properties within Golden Beach. In October last year, Johnny Grobman sold his oceanfront residence in Golden Beach for $16.6 million while serving an 18-year prison sentence related to fraud charges; earlier this year another local homeowner sold their property for $22 million.
