Mayors in several cities across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee have designated December 12, 2025, as “Share the Warmth Day.” The proclamation aims to promote support for Piedmont Natural Gas’s Share the Warmth program, which provides emergency funding to individuals who need help paying their energy bills.
The initiative is supported by mayors from Charlotte, Fayetteville, Greensboro, and Wilmington in North Carolina; Greenville in South Carolina; and Nashville in Tennessee. Their collective effort seeks to encourage residents and communities to contribute to the program during the winter months.
Share the Warmth is an ongoing program established by Piedmont Natural Gas. It offers financial assistance for energy bills regardless of whether recipients use propane, electricity, or natural gas. The program operates throughout the year.
Brian Weisker, senior vice president and president of Piedmont Natural Gas, stated: “Piedmont’s Share the Warmth program has supported our most vulnerable neighbors since 2003. We chose December 12, or 12/12, as ‘Share the Warmth Day’ to remind us that for no more than $12 a year, each of us can make a meaningful difference. And if you need help today, Share the Warmth funds are available. Too many families face difficult choices when the weather turns cold. We want anyone who needs assistance with their energy bills to know: Piedmont is here to keep you warm and supported, all year long.”
Customers can participate in Share the Warmth through various methods such as enrolling in a Round Up program—where monthly bills are rounded up with the difference donated—or by making direct contributions online or via phone. Non-customers also have options for contributing individually through information provided on piedmontng.com/ShareTheWarmth.
All money collected remains within local communities and is distributed through nonprofit partners directly to those in need.
Piedmont Natural Gas serves over 1.2 million customers across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee as part of Duke Energy’s operations.
