Jim F. of Nunica, Michigan, has been named the winner of Lake Michigan Credit Union’s (LMCU) 2025 $50,000 Home Makeover Sweepstakes. The announcement was made by LMCU President and CEO Julie Leonard, who personally informed Jim and his wife Rhonda about their win.

“LMCU’s mission is to help all our members achieve their financial dreams for a lifetime,” Leonard said. “and this year’s $50,000 Home Makeover Sweepstakes theme, ‘Fund Your Happy Place,’ spoke directly to that. Jim and Rhonda trust LMCU with their money, so now we’re proud to give back and help them kickstart their next big dream.”

The sweepstakes saw over 1.6 million entries submitted both online and at LMCU branches between April 1 and June 26, 2025. This marks a new record for total entries in the annual event.

Jim and Rhonda became LMCU members after the credit union opened a branch in Grand Haven in 2021. They were drawn by positive feedback about the Max Checking account. After switching their banking to LMCU, they used interest earned from their checking account to pay off their mortgage and have entered the sweepstakes for three years.

“Our home has served us well over the years, but now we want more room for family time,” Jim said. “This $50,000 will be a huge help as we add a living room, a new bedroom, and a couple new bathrooms — our final plan should be ready to go this week!”

The $50,000 Home Makeover Sweepstakes is held annually during spring and summer months and is open to residents of Michigan and Florida. More information about the winner can be found at
