Jon Holden has been appointed as the new General Vice President of Training and Apprenticeships for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, effective April 1, according to an announcement made at the recent MNPL Conference in Savannah, Georgia.

The appointment follows a unanimous vote by the IAM Executive Council. Holden previously served as president of IAM District 751 in Washington state, where he represented tens of thousands of high-skilled workers who build Boeing aircraft at the company’s manufacturing facilities.

This leadership change is significant for union members involved in training and apprenticeship programs. The role focuses on developing skills and supporting workforce development across industries represented by the union.

Holden’s experience leading one of the largest districts within IAM is expected to inform his approach to overseeing training initiatives. His background includes representing workers in complex manufacturing environments such as Boeing’s operations.

The appointment signals continued emphasis on skill-building and apprenticeship opportunities within IAM. Observers will be watching how Holden shapes future training programs for union members.
