A historic Palm Beach mansion known as Casa del Ensuenos has been listed for sale at $175 million, positioning it among the most expensive residential properties on the U.S. market. The estate, located at 800 South County Road, was originally built in 1923 and designed by Addison Mizner, a prominent architect who helped define Palm Beach’s Mediterranean Revival style.
The property spans 1.5 acres along the Intracoastal Waterway and features 200 feet of waterfront. It is situated just north of Mar-a-Lago Club in an area known for its exclusivity. Casa del Ensuenos is one of only two Venetian-style mansions Mizner constructed in Palm Beach and was designated a landmark by the town in 1980.
Businesswoman Ann DesRuisseaux purchased the home for $24 million in 2020. She initiated a significant restoration project after repeated flooding from Lake Worth Lagoon led to saltwater entering the first floor during king tides and storms. The renovation included elevating the structure to address rising sea levels—a process that required multiple Town Council hearings before approval was granted.
The cost of the renovation has not been disclosed but is reported to be in the millions. The project has drawn attention as an example of how luxury estates in Palm Beach are adapting to environmental challenges such as higher tides.
Casa del Ensuenos offers approximately 27,000 square feet of living space, with about 21,500 square feet air-conditioned. It includes 15 bedrooms, 18 bathrooms, and five half-bathrooms. Architectural elements include a half-round stair tower, lakefront balconies, cast-stone detailing, and a courtyard archway that once served as a yacht entrance.
Margit Brandt of Premier Estate Properties holds the listing for Casa del Ensuenos. Brandt told reporters: “one-of-one” and “one of the most iconic renovations in Palm Beach history.”
In comparison to other high-end listings in Florida, another Palm Beach estate recently went on sale for $205 million. Last year saw a record-setting residential transaction when Naples’ DeGroote family sold their waterfront estate for $225 million.
