Highlands County has introduced three interactive digital kiosks in Sebring, Avon Park, and Lake Placid to enhance the visitor experience and promote exploration across its communities. The new kiosks are located at Sebring’s Circle Park, outside the Avon Park Chamber of Commerce on Main Street, and at Journal Plaza in Lake Placid.
According to Highlands County Tourism Director Casey Hartt, “By the TDC and the three cities working together and showcasing Highlands County as one cohesive destination, we’re making it easier for visitors to discover our area events, activities, restaurants, hotels, and attractions. These kiosks help strengthen tourism throughout all three cities by encouraging visitors to see and do more during their stay, which ultimately boosts economic activity countywide.”
The initiative is part of a broader strategy unveiled earlier this year at the TDC’s Destination Unity Breakfast. Over the past year, Visit Sebring collaborated with local municipalities to develop a platform that highlights each city’s unique offerings while fostering countywide connectivity.
Each kiosk features touchscreen navigation where users can find information on dining options, accommodations, outdoor activities, cultural sites, and upcoming events. While each device spotlights its host city’s attractions, they are designed to encourage broader exploration within Highlands County.
“Local businesses and organizations are featured in categories such as Food & Drink, Things to Do, Outdoors, and Accommodations so visitors can easily discover them,” Hartt said. “Users can also filter by preferences, such as cuisine, lodging style or city giving them a seamless way to explore and enjoy all three communities during their vacation to Highlands County.”
Produced by TrueOmni—a company specializing in interactive digital signage—the kiosks include features like an itinerary builder that allows visitors to save favorite locations and send plans directly to their phones; an interactive event calendar listing festivals and community happenings; maps with directions between attractions; and a digital photo booth for guests to share branded Visit Sebring photos.
Tourism-related businesses interested in being listed on these kiosks are encouraged to review or update their information via VisitSebring.com or contact the Tourist Development Council (TDC).
Visit Sebring serves as the destination marketing organization managed by the Highlands County Tourist Development Council (TDC), whose mission includes promoting tourism development as part of long-term economic growth for residents.
