Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin have been seeking luxury real estate in Miami, with sources confirming that Page is the buyer behind a recent $101.5 million purchase of the Banyan Ridge estate in Coconut Grove. The 4.5-acre waterfront property at 3585 Anchorage Way was sold by the estate of Jonathan Lewis, a well-known Miami restaurateur and LGBT advocate, after being listed for $135 million.
Page, whose net worth is estimated at $272 billion according to Bloomberg, also acquired another home at 3085 Munroe Drive for $71.9 million. This seven-bedroom residence was previously owned by Shaklee Corp. CEO Roger Barnett and journalist Sloan Barnett.
Sergey Brin, with an estimated net worth of $253 billion, visited Miami during Art Basel in December aboard his megayacht Dragonfly. While there were rumors he might be the buyer of Banyan Ridge, sources indicated he is considering other waterfront properties in Miami Beach.
Both Page and Brin founded Google in 1998 while attending Stanford University.
These acquisitions are part of a broader trend among high-net-worth individuals relocating from California to Florida. The New York Times reported that Page has expressed intentions to leave California due to proposed tax changes targeting residents with assets over $1 billion—a measure that would impose a 5 percent tax on their wealth. In support of this move, three LLCs linked to Page were recently incorporated in Florida.
Brett Harris of Bespoke Real Estate commented on the migration: “One hundred billionaires in California are all on their way to Florida and our phones are ringing off the hook,” he said.
Danny Hertzberg and Jill Hertzberg of the Jills Zeder Group represented the seller in the Banyan Ridge transaction but declined to comment on details.
