Russell Galbut and his partners have appointed Jim Heilmann as the new senior general manager of Galleria Fort Lauderdale, following their recent acquisition of the property. The ownership group, which includes GFO Investments, InSite Group, Atlas Hill Real Estate, and Prime Finance, purchased the 800,000-square-foot indoor mall for $73 million last month.

The new leadership comes as the partners consider a significant redevelopment plan for the mall. According to a recent report in the Miami Herald, proposed changes could include nine 30-story towers, a 170-room hotel, and several residential units under Florida’s Live Local Act.

Heilmann brings experience from his previous role as vice president of operations at Area15 in Las Vegas. He will be responsible for overseeing Galleria’s operations, marketing initiatives, and tenant relations. Centennial remains the firm managing the property.

In other real estate moves, Douglas Elliman has added Venezuelan actress and TV personality Chiqui Delgado to Edgar Marquez’s Casa Team. This marks Delgado’s first venture into real estate brokerage and coincides with the Casa Team’s expansion into Miami. Marquez previously lived in Miami before relocating to New York City in 2005 and has been with Elliman in New York for two years.

David Martin’s Terra has selected Elliman’s Chestler Jacobs Team from New York to serve as national brand ambassadors for its South Florida developments. Led by Jessica Chestler and Ben Jacobs, the team will organize private events and broker tours to support Terra’s local sales efforts. Projects involved include Mr. C Residences in West Palm Beach, the Well Bay Harbor Islands, the Well Coconut Grove, and Villa Miami.

Shawmut Design and Construction has hired Scott Remer as project executive amid ongoing growth of its South Florida team. Remer previously served as COO at Current Builders. Shawmut reports a 20 percent increase in staff and a 50 percent expansion of office space in recent months.
