The City of Fort Myers announced on March 23 that it will hold a series of public engagement sessions aimed at gathering community input on the future development of Midtown. The city is working with Dover, Kohl & Partners, an urban design firm, to help shape the area’s built environment.
The initiative is significant as it invites residents, business owners, and other stakeholders to participate in decisions about architectural and design standards intended to revitalize Midtown. These sessions are part of the city’s effort to ensure that changes reflect community needs and preferences.
A workshop-style Public Open House is scheduled for Monday, March 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with a second session from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., both at Fort Myers Fire Station 11 on Jackson Street. Following this, a Work in Progress Public Presentation will take place Thursday, April 2 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the same location.
Community members attending the open house will have opportunities to learn about ongoing planning efforts and provide feedback that may influence updated land development codes for Midtown. The city said input collected during these meetings will be incorporated into the evolving vision presented during the Work in Progress session.
According to organizers, all meetings are free and open to everyone interested in participating in shaping Midtown’s future.
