The City of Fort Myers has scheduled a public meeting to discuss planned improvements along Winkler Avenue, between State Road 739/Metro Parkway and State Road 884/Colonial Boulevard. The meeting will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Chinese Alliance Church located at 3950 Winkler Avenue in Fort Myers.

The proposed project is based on recommendations from the 2020 Winkler Avenue Corridor Evaluation Report. Planned upgrades include modifications to medians aimed at improving traffic flow and safety, installation of new and upgraded traffic signals at key intersections, enhanced drainage systems and roadway reconstruction at Schoolhouse Road West, as well as updated signage, pavement markings, and lighting.

Construction is expected to begin in October 2025 with completion projected for December 2026.

Community members are invited to attend the meeting to ask questions and learn more about the upcoming changes.
