The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) is set to begin a technical hearing on Monday, October 6, 2025, regarding Florida Power & Light Company’s (FPL) request for a base rate increase. The hearing will take place at the Betty Easley Conference Center in Tallahassee, starting at 9:30 a.m.
According to the FPSC, FPL filed its petition for the rate increase on February 28, 2025. In preparation for this proceeding, the Commission organized ten service hearings during May and June—three of which were held virtually and seven in person—to collect feedback from customers about FPL’s quality of service and the proposed rate changes. FPL currently provides electric service to six million customer accounts across Northwest and peninsular Florida.
The upcoming hearing will allow FPL and other parties involved in the case to present sworn testimony and submit exhibits supporting their positions. “The hearing will allow FPL and intervenors to present sworn testimony and exhibits in support of their positions,” according to the FPSC.
For those unable to attend in person, a live broadcast of the hearing will be available online through the Commission’s website. The Florida Channel may also provide additional coverage; viewers are advised to check local listings for more information.
