Time has been experienced differently across the Florida citrus industry over the past year, especially following Hurricane Milton. Steve Johnson, Chairman of the Florida Citrus Commission, noted that regardless of perspective on how quickly or slowly time has passed since the hurricane, “how we’ve worked together to make good use of our time these last few months has given the Florida citrus industry some good momentum going into this season.”

Johnson highlighted the work of the Florida Department of Citrus (FDOC), which he said has kept pace with the industry’s recovery and efforts. According to Johnson, FDOC’s recent activities include launching a new partnership between Florida Orange Juice and the Tampa Bay Lightning. He added that FDOC is engaged in various initiatives important to maintaining progress for Florida citrus.

He encouraged stakeholders to attend the next FCC Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, October 22 at 9:00 a.m. at their Bartow headquarters.

Steve Johnson serves as Chairman of the Florida Citrus Commission, which oversees FDOC. He is also owner and general manager of Johnson Harvesting, Inc., based in Wauchula, FL.
