Florida Department of Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas has announced the allocation of $14.6 million through the Pathways to Career Opportunities Grant (PCOG). The funding will support 34 organizations in Florida, including school districts, colleges, state universities, and private training entities. The grant aims to start, expand, or operate registered apprenticeship and preapprenticeship programs for over 7,100 participants who will receive on-the-job training and classroom instruction.

“Governor DeSantis’ continued investment in workforce education is transforming opportunities for students across Florida,” said Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas. “These programs give students the chance to train alongside industry experts and discover their strengths and step confidently into the jobs that drive Florida’s economy forward.”

Since its inception, the PCOG has awarded $105 million, funding more than 350 proposals and serving over 20,000 participants statewide. The initiative provides students with access to practical training that benefits both job seekers and businesses through apprenticeship opportunities. According to state data, there are now nearly 800,000 K-12 career and technical education students—the highest number recorded in Florida—along with more than 480,000 postsecondary CTE students and 22,444 registered apprentices and preapprentices.
