Duke Energy Florida, along with the Duke Energy Foundation, employees, and customers, contributed nearly $650,000 in 2025 through the Share the Light Fund to help families pay their energy bills. The initiative provided support to families across the company’s 35-county service area in Florida.

A notable portion of this assistance came from the Duke Energy Foundation, which donated $1,000 for every Tampa Bay Rays regular season win during 2025. This resulted in a total contribution of $82,000. Additional funding was allocated to address needs during periods of extreme summer heat.

Loree Elswick, president of Duke Energy Foundation, stated: “We know that behind every request for assistance is a story – a family, a friend, a community member working to get through a tough time. Through Share the Light Fund and our local partners, we’re able to support our neighbors in their moment of need.”

All contributions made to the Share the Light Fund are distributed directly to social service agencies that assist customers struggling with energy costs throughout Duke Energy Florida’s territory.

At a recent outreach event in Clearwater organized by Duke Energy Florida and United Way Suncoast—a long-term partner—more than 200 customers received direct assistance and contact information was collected for follow-up with an additional 800 individuals.

Jessica Muroff, CEO of United Way Suncoast said: “The United Way Suncoast is grateful for the important work we’ve been able to do with Duke Energy Florida to support families across the Tampa Bay area. We look forward to building on this impactful partnership in 2026 and beyond.”
