Duke Energy Florida organized a Neighborhood Energy Saver Program event in North Greenwood, St. Petersburg, where about 75 residents attended to learn about reducing their energy costs. The program is open to more than 1,400 eligible local customers and offers free home energy assessments aimed at lowering monthly electricity bills.
Melissa Seixas, president of Duke Energy Florida, said, “Programs like the Neighborhood Energy Saver are one of the many ways we partner with customers and the community to help reduce energy costs. We know our customers are feeling higher costs everywhere, which is why we’re glad to have this opportunity to connect with them and share practical ways to lower their energy bills, while enjoying a meal together.”
Participants who qualify can receive up to 20 no-cost energy-saving improvements such as digital room thermometers, efficient showerheads or wands, AC filters for a year, faucet aerators for kitchens and bathrooms, LED lightbulbs, water heater wraps or pipe insulation, window AC unit covers, caulking materials, weatherstripping and door sweeps.
The initiative targets residential customers—both homeowners and renters—in areas identified by Duke Energy Florida using federal and state guidelines along with census data. To check eligibility or get more information about the program, residents can visit the company’s website or call 855.227.2918.
Since launching its energy efficiency programs in 1981—including the Neighborhood Energy Saver—Duke Energy reports that it has helped Florida customers save nearly $1.25 billion.
