Work on Crosswalk 5 at the lower level of Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) has been completed, and the walkway reopened to pedestrians at noon on August 27, 2025. The temporary detour, which was planned for August 20-29, is no longer in effect. Travelers and visitors can now move directly between the terminal and parking garage, ground transportation, shuttles, and the Rental Car facility.

According to airport officials, both the lower and upper levels of Crosswalk 5 on the west side of the terminal are open for direct access between the parking garage and terminal. On the east side of the terminal, only the lower level of Crosswalk 1 is open for pedestrian use.

This construction was part of the Concourse E Project at RSW. The Lee County Port Authority stated that updates regarding ongoing construction will continue to be posted on the airport’s website and Facebook page to inform travelers about any changes.

“We appreciate your understanding as we increase capacity, airport efficiency and provide passengers with more amenities and options at Southwest Florida International Airport,” said airport officials.

Florida law states that most written communications related to Port Authority business are public records available upon request. This includes emails sent to or from Port Authority employees and officials.
