Florida Department of Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas has announced the allocation of $40 million through the Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive Grant Program (Workforce CAP) to enhance workforce education programs across Florida. The funding will support 49 programs statewide, increasing their capacity by 59 percent.
Since the Workforce CAP program began in 2023, total state investment in these workforce education initiatives has reached $240 million. The initiative aims to prepare students for jobs in high-demand industries and strengthen Florida’s skilled labor force.
“Florida’s workforce is stronger than ever because we are investing directly in students and the programs that prepare them for success,” said Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas. “This $40 million investment expands opportunities across the state, giving students access to cutting-edge training and ensuring Florida remains the best place to build a career.”
The grant supports both high school and postsecondary programs, providing hands-on training designed to help students earn industry-recognized certifications. According to the Department of Education, these funds will help ensure that students have access to necessary tools and resources as they enter emerging fields and respond to economic demands.
Institutions receiving awards were not listed in detail but are among those expanding or establishing new career and technical education offerings throughout Florida.
