The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens will recognize first responders by offering them free admission on September 12. The event, called First Responders Day, is meant to honor the work of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMTs/paramedics.

First responders who attend will need to show proof of employment and must get their tickets at the gate for use that day. Online ticket purchases are not available for this offer.

During the event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., guests can also see fire engines and trucks from both the Sanford Fire Department and Seminole County Fire Department between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Crews from these departments will hand out items for children. The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office will participate as well, offering sticker badges and equipment displays.

According to the zoo’s website, it houses over 350 animals in Sanford, Florida, and operates as a not-for-profit organization focused on conservation efforts. More information about First Responders Day is available at https://www.centralfloridazoo.org/event/honoring-first-responders/.
