The U.S. Census Bureau has announced it will release three reports detailing national statistics on income, poverty, and health insurance coverage for 2024. The findings will be presented during an online news conference scheduled for Tuesday, September 9 at 10 a.m. EDT.
The reports—Income in the United States: 2024, Poverty in the United States: 2024, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2024—are based on data from the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC). These documents will provide information about annual income, earnings, inequality estimates, official and supplemental poverty rates, as well as national health insurance coverage trends.
David Waddington, chief of the Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division at the Census Bureau; Sharon Stern, assistant division chief for Employment Characteristics; Liana Fox, assistant division chief for Economic Characteristics; and Julie Iriondo, chief of the Media Relations Branch at the Public Information Office of the Communications Directorate, will participate in presenting these findings.
A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. The event will take place online via Webex by Cisco. Media representatives can join using an audio access phone number or through an online platform provided by the Census Bureau (https://uscensusevents.webex.com/uscensusevents/j.php?MTID=m7e0f0fe492f905f5dbb5b500a6a5fcf7).
Shortly after the conference begins, related reports and data tables are expected to be available in a press kit on the Census Bureau’s website. Members of the media may contact pio@census.gov or call 301-763-3030 to request interviews with subject-matter experts.
