The U.S. Census Bureau has announced the start of the 2026 Census Test, which will be carried out in Huntsville, Alabama, and Spartanburg, South Carolina. The test is designed to evaluate how the U.S. Postal Service can take on roles that are usually handled by Census Bureau field workers. It will also include limited activities for in-field enumeration.
According to the Census Bureau, “The Census Bureau remains committed to conducting the most accurate count in history for the 2030 Census and looks forward to the continued partnership with local communities.”
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve census operations ahead of the next decennial count.
