A developer is seeking approval for a new waterfront residential high-rise in Fort Lauderdale, as part of a surge in development proposals at the end of the year.
Camaco Development, led by Josephine Campeau, has submitted an application to build Harbor Beach Residences, a 36-unit building on a 0.8-acre site located at 3049 and 3043 Harbor Drive. The type of units—whether apartments or condominiums—has not been specified. The proposal will be reviewed by the city’s Planning and Zoning Board at its meeting scheduled for January 21.
The design for the 21-story tower comes from Adache Group Architects and Kora. Plans include a five-story lobby and garage podium, as well as an amenity deck on the seventh floor.
The property consists of two lots: one owned by Coral Gables-based Camaco Development and another held by Karma Executive Homes, managed by Rajiv Sharma.
In recent years following the pandemic, Fort Lauderdale and Broward County did not see as much development activity compared to other parts of South Florida. However, luxury condominium construction has recently increased in the area.
Other major projects underway include Fortune International Group and Oak Capital’s Ritz-Carlton Residences in Pompano Beach, which will feature two towers—a 32-story Beach Tower with 117 units and a 14-story Marina Tower with 88 units—at 1380 South Ocean Boulevard. Related Group and Merrimac Ventures are planning a Waldorf Astoria-branded condo project with a 28-story building containing 92 units at 1213 South Ocean Boulevard in Pompano Beach. In Fort Lauderdale itself, Related Group also plans to develop Andare Residences by Pininfarina, a luxury condo tower with 46 stories and 163 units at 521 East Las Olas Boulevard. Additionally, Cymbal DLT is moving forward with Nautico District on the New River south of downtown Fort Lauderdale—a $1.5 billion development featuring more than 1,200 residential units across two towers (a 37-story condo tower and a 30-story apartment tower) along with a hotel on a six-acre site at 413 Southwest Third Avenue.
