Central Florida will host the ninth annual BIKE 5 cycling event on October 25, 2025. Organized by Bike/Walk Central Florida, the event aims to promote safer and more connected transportation options in the region. The ride offers two routes: a new 10-mile Main Streets Ride through several Orlando neighborhoods and business districts, and the flagship 30-mile BIKE 5 Cities route that passes through Orlando, Winter Park, Eatonville, Maitland, and Casselberry.

The Main Streets Ride highlights recent improvements in cyclist infrastructure connecting South Orlando and Downtown Orlando. Riders will travel through City District, Thornton Park, The Milk, Mills 50, Ivanhoe Village, and Audubon Park. The longer BIKE 5 Cities route is available as both guided and self-guided options and showcases trails and neighborhood streets designed for low-stress cycling.

“BIKE 5 isn’t your typical cycling event,” said Anna Strasshofer, Events Manager at Bike/Walk Central Florida. “It’s not about racing or setting records. It’s about experiencing our cities at a casual pace, connecting with fellow riders in small groups, and learning how we can all help make Central Florida’s streets safer and more welcoming for people on bikes. This ride is a show of support for bike-friendly routes and real local living, where education, community, and mobility come together.”

Emily Bush, Executive Director at Bike/Walk Central Florida added: “The BIKE 5 route, both the 30-mile option and the new main streets ride, shows us how far we have come in creating connected, comfortable streets and trails that get us from City to City. We still have some work to do to truly create safe and accessible places for everyone, from 8 to 80, to ride, feel safe and enjoy. The purpose of the event is not only to show people where they can comfortably ride but to push for those connections and build a community that makes it easy for everyone to have access to active transportation options in their community.”

The event is organized with support from local governments including partnerships with the City of Orlando https://www.orlando.gov/, City of Winter Park https://cityofwinterpark.org/, City of Maitland https://www.maitlandflorida.com/, Town of Eatonville https://townofeatonville.org/, and City of Casselberry https://www.casselberry.org/. These collaborations focus on investments in safer infrastructure intended to improve accessibility for cyclists while offering health benefits as well as economic advantages.

Bike/Walk Central Florida has worked since 2010 to advocate for active transportation options across the region by promoting policies that foster community involvement while aiming for safer streets.
