Amazónico, a restaurant known for its jungle-themed décor and international locations in Dubai, London, Madrid, and Monte Carlo, will open its first U.S. branch in Miami’s Brickell district. The eatery has signed a lease for approximately 40,000 square feet across three floors at the 800 Brickell office tower located at 800 Brickell Avenue. Babak Ebrahimzadeh of Gatsby Enterprises, which owns the building, confirmed the details of the lease.
The new space includes room for Amazónico’s nightclub Selva on the top floor leased by the restaurant. Both venues are expected to begin operations late next month.
Ebrahimzadeh said that the restaurant will have seating capacity for about 700 guests at a time and can host at least 1,300 guests per night.
Amazónico was founded in Madrid in 2016 by Sandro Silva and Marta Seco. The couple leads Paraguas Group, which is part of London-based hospitality company D.ream International.
Gatsby Enterprises, based in New York and led by Ebrahimzadeh and Nader Ohebshalom, purchased both 800 Brickell and an adjacent nine-story parking garage for $125.5 million in 2019.
In West Palm Beach, DUS Padel is set to open its first location next year with a facility spanning 26,500 square feet at 2031 Okeechobee Boulevard. According to a release from Stream Realty Partners—whose John Winter, Jason Warren and Alec Solomon represented DUS Padel—the club will feature indoor courts as well as amenities like cold plunges, saunas and a café. Lindsey Morriss Meyers of Southeast Retail Advisors represented the landlord.
DUS Padel was established late last year by Philippe Urreiztieta. The new padel club will take over space formerly occupied by American Freight after its parent company filed for bankruptcy nationwide in November. The shopping center is owned by Okee Realty Associates.
Meanwhile in North Miami Beach, Pala Mediterranean Kitchen has preleased a 1,400-square-foot space with an outdoor terrace at Aura North Miami Beach—a mixed-use project under construction at 16955-17071 West Dixie Highway—according to Macken Companies’ news release. Pala is expanding from Hollywood’s Sheridan Street location.
Other recent preleases at Aura include The Missing Peace occupational therapy center and Sunrisas Dental Miami; prior tenants Florentin Bakery (2,800 square feet) and Mimi Yoga (2,700 square feet) have also signed on. Aura is being developed by Macken Companies of Hollywood and Trinsic Residential Group from Dallas; it will offer eight stories with 373 apartments plus about 17,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor along with a covered retail terrace measuring around 9,000 square feet. Completion is anticipated in the second quarter of next year.
Macken Companies’ CEO is Alan Macken while Brian Tusa serves as CEO for Trinsic Residential Group.
Wells Fargo has agreed to a decade-long lease for a new branch totaling 4,000 square feet at 1207 Southeast 17th Street in Fort Lauderdale. This site replaces Wells Fargo’s current branch at South Andrews Avenue according to landlord brokers Jake Michels and Joseph P. Byrnes of Berger Commercial Realty/Corfac International; Colliers’ Mike Wilson and Russell Bornstein represented Wells Fargo as tenant representatives.
Russell Bornstein stated that Wells Fargo plans to open this new location during next year’s second quarter.
Ownership records indicate W D Cordova—led by John Thompson Loos III and Amy Mergler—owns this property previously used as a PDQ restaurant on one acre including drive-thru facilities.
Finally, Minto Communities USA has moved its headquarters within Coconut Creek but remains local after leasing approximately 15,500 square feet at Promenade at Coconut Creek on Lyons Road where about seventy-five employees will be based according to their own announcement. Their new office represents an increase over their previous long-term base nearby where they had operated more than two decades ago.
Minto Communities USA is headed by CEO Michael Waters alongside President William Bullock; AEW Capital Management out of Boston owns Promenade at Coconut Creek.
